DIY: Calming Lavender Coconut Oil

Lately, I’ve been exploring ways to help encourage our baby to get a good night’s sleep naturally.  I’ve been more consistent with a bedtime routine, which incorporates a quick water bath each night.
In order to keep our baby’s skin moisturized, I came up with this quick, no fuss oil to slather over her at night.  It also works great as a baby massage oil!  Some little ones love a good massage; others want to be moisturized and done as soon as possible!  haha- you guessed mine is the later!
Lavender is a wonderful essential oil that has many benefits for baby, and adults alike!  Here are just a handful of benefits:
Calms the nervous system, reducing anxiety, headaches & migraines, tension, and emotional distress.
Relieves pain from muscles and joints.
Treats respiratory problems of all sorts, including colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis, sinus congestion, and cough.  It also has antibacterial properties to help ward off infection.
And most notably- Sleep.  Lavender Oil has such a powerful calming effect that it is actually used as an alternative treatment for insomnia.
The scent is so relaxing, I often times just open the bottle for a quick whiff on hectic days, which led me to create this fabulously easy and effective moisturizing oil for baby’s bedtime routine:

Calming Lavender Coconut Oil

-Coconut Oil
-Lavender Essential Oil
After bath, scoop out about a tablespoon of coconut oil, and add 1-2 drops of Lavender essential Oil in your hands.  Slather over baby.  Continue to massage in, if desired.
